Episode #6: The Secret Pill

Mindfulness meditation is an adaptation of Buddhist vipassanā meditation in which practitioners learn to be mindful, the intentional, accepting and non-judgmental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment.

Since 1967, over 1500 studies have been conducted by over 250 independent research institutes showing Mindfulness Meditation to be clinically effective for the management of stress, anxiety and panic, chronic pain, depression, obsessive thinking, strong emotional reactivity, and a wide array of other benefits like improved focus and creativity.

The best way to get started is to join one of Gannett’s guided meditation sessions, which take place weekly in the Big Red Barn, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Mann Library, Hasbrouck, the Johnson School, and in the Gannett Health Services Center.
